Doskoch Lawn Care & Landscaping Services

Professional Irrigation Services in Northeast Ohio

Northeast Ohio doesn’t have a water shortage — it has a water timing problem. Our region can see a soaking wet May, then go three or four weeks in July with barely a trace of rain while temperatures sit in the upper 80s. Lawns brown out, new plantings wilt, and the landscape investment you made in spring starts dying by midsummer. That feast-or-famine pattern, combined with clay soils that shed water instead of storing it, is exactly why professionally designed irrigation makes sense here — not despite our climate, but because of it.

Doskoch Lawn Care & Landscaping Services designs, installs, and maintains irrigation systems for homes and commercial properties across the west side of the Cleveland metro. Since 2018, we’ve built our reputation on complete landscape care — and irrigation is the system that protects everything else you’ve invested in. We’re based at 34340 Mills Rd, Unit 600 in Avon, Ohio 44011. Call or text 216-516-2668 or reach us online to schedule a consultation.

Irrigation Support Through Every Season

An irrigation system isn’t a one-time purchase — it’s a system with a yearly rhythm. We support yours at every stage of it.

Design & Installation

Every property waters differently. Sun exposure, slope, soil, plant material, and water pressure all shape the design, so we start with a site evaluation rather than a catalog. From there we install efficient, zoned systems — rotors for open turf, sprays for beds, drip lines where plants want slow, deep watering — with smart controllers and rain sensors so the system waters when the landscape needs it and stays off when it doesn't. Installations are trenched cleanly, and lawns are restored so that within weeks you'd never know crews were there.

Spring Start-Up

Each spring, we recharge the system, inspect every zone and head, verify the backflow device, and program the controller for the season ahead. A proper start-up catches winter damage early — before a cracked fitting quietly runs up your water bill or a stuck head floods a bed.

In-Season Repairs & Adjustments

Heads get clipped by mowers, nozzles clog, zones drift out of adjustment, and controllers lose their settings. We diagnose and repair systems of any brand — whether or not we installed them — and adjust coverage as the landscape grows and the season changes.

Fall Winterization

This is the appointment Northeast Ohio systems can't skip. Before hard freezes arrive, we shut down the water supply and blow out every zone with compressed air so no water is left to freeze, expand, and split pipes or crack the backflow preventer. A winterization visit costs a fraction of a spring repair bill — and we schedule them in efficient neighborhood routes throughout October and November.

Why Irrigation Pays for Itself in Northeast Ohio

  • It protects your bigger investments. A new lawn, fresh plantings, or a full landscape renovation can fail in a single dry stretch. Consistent watering is the cheapest insurance those investments can have.
  • It waters correctly, not just conveniently. Early-morning cycles, measured run times, and zone-by-zone control beat dragging a hose on whatever evening you remember — and deep, infrequent watering builds the drought-resistant roots our clay soils make hard to establish.
  • Smart controls trim the waste. Rain sensors and weather-based controllers skip cycles when storms do the work, so the system runs less in a wet June and more in a dry August — automatically.
  • It keeps commercial properties presentable. For offices, retail, and HOA common areas, browned-out turf in August undermines every dollar spent on maintenance the rest of the year.

One Team for the Whole Landscape

Irrigation works best when it’s coordinated with everything else happening on your property. Because we also handle mowing, turf programs, lawn and landscape services, and hardscaping projects, we design systems around real conditions — sod that needs establishment watering, beds that want drip lines, a new patio whose lines should be routed before the pavers go down, not after. Nick and his crew worked for two days in the rain to make sure my yard was looking perfect. They installed drainage, rock border, sod, and mulch. There is no standing around with this crew - these young men hustle! I highly recommend them and will be utilizing their services again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Annual rainfall here is plentiful, but it isn’t evenly distributed. Midsummer dry spells of two to four weeks are common, and that’s precisely when turf and plantings are under the most heat stress. Irrigation exists for those windows — and smart controllers keep the system idle when nature is doing the job.

Before the first hard freeze — typically mid-October through mid-November. Water left in lines or the backflow device can freeze and cause damage that isn’t discovered until spring start-up.

Yes. We service and repair residential and commercial systems regardless of who installed them, including head replacement, leak repair, valve and wiring issues, and controller upgrades.

Absolutely. Modern pipe-pulling and trenching methods disturb far less turf than most homeowners expect, and the lawn typically recovers fully within a few weeks. It’s also an ideal add-on during a sod installation or landscape renovation, when the ground is already open.

Yes. Drip zones deliver slow, deep watering directly to root zones with minimal evaporation — ideal for foundation plantings, perennial beds, and vegetable gardens, and easily zoned separately from turf areas.

Yes. We install and maintain systems for offices, retail centers, HOAs, and multi-family communities, and irrigation service can be folded into a year-round grounds maintenance agreement with one point of contact.
